The True Farage Revealed - A Quisling.

Quisling collaborating with Nazis
I suppose if you aren't very old and don't read WW2 history books you might not have come across the term quisling.  It comes from the major who fronted the puppet government of Norway during the German occupation.  His name for some reason became the generic term for anyone who collaborates with the enemy in this way, with the extra implication that the motivation is to exert some power over their fellow countrymen on the back of occupying forces.

So the spectacle we have today of Nigel Farage gleefully accepting the suggestion of Donald Trump that he should be appointed the Ambassador to Washington is enough to turn the stomach.  Mr Farage has made numerous attempts to get elected to Westminster and is currently actually my MEP.  But he seems to be very creative in his pursuit of power.  The role of being the  Translatlantic go between issuing his interpretation of the wishes of his powerful patron is one that is no mean ambition.

It is also one beautifully suited to a man who is uninterested in details and certainly doesn't want to take any personal responsibility.  What could be better than to be able to issue instructions and hint darkly that "Donald wouldn't like it" to any questioning him.

Luckily it doesn't look like even after Brexit the UK is that desperate and the suggestion of his appointment has been rapidly rebuffed by the government.   Farage will have to find other ways of lording it over us.  No doubt his fertile imagination will come up with something.

The original Quisling was shot.
