Brexit is damaging your personal brand

Peace Sign
Brexit is harming us all

The Financial Times reports some research indicating that Brexit is damaging Britain’s standing around the world.  This isn’t good.  But it also affects our own standing in the world as individuals.  Before Brexit British people were perceived as hard working and competent.  This has real world effects - what people think of you affects how they treat you.

So if you are looking for a job overseas you have an advantage thanks to your nationality.  It might be unfair, but your personal brand includes Britishness.  So the acheivements of Newton, Darwin, the Beatles and Jim Davidson are all positives on your CV.  This translates into actual pounds in your pocket.   You stand more chance of getting a job or making a sale.

So a monumental clanger like Brexit, which was never a great idea in the first place and which has been pursued with what looks like the intention to create the maximum PR damage is going to harm your prospects.  This applies to you, your employer and your customer.  We are all in this together. Even if it doesn’t have a big short term economic effect, no deal Brexit is going to cost us all money.
