What Happens Next?
The big story in the news at the moment is the probability of an election in the very near future - possibly as soon as October.
Well the pattern seems to be that whatever is being predicted is just about the only thing that doesn't happen. There are ways through the current situation that don't involve an election. For example the Johnson government could be overthrown in the House of Commons itself. This would have been regarded as something of an offence against democracy had it been done to Mrs May. But given that the current leader and its cabinet haven't offered themselves to the public and has a majority as small as it is possible to have, it would be quite legitimate to see a new prime minister in place without an election.
So could Mr Corbyn end up as the leader of a government of national unity?
