Location of the Problem With Brexit |
If you want to get blocked on Twitter by a leaver, a very good way to do it is to point out that we would have left by now if leave supporting MPs had voted to leave when they had the opportunity. This simple, obvious, widely reported and easily verified fact seems to give them a lot of trouble.
The reason isn't hard to see. The logical response is to concede that leave has indeed been betrayed by leavers. Like honesty in general, this is both good in itself and also points the way to solving the problem. Conservative MPs who won't support the deal their own party put forward need to be persuaded to come into line. Or if they won't they should have the whip withdrawn. A general election could then be called and the troublemakers will no longer be in the House of Commons to disrupt the implementation of Brexit.
What could be simpler?
So is this what leavers propose? They don't seem to have thought it through at all.
Unless of course, they aren't confident that the people will return a parliament willing to go through with Brexit......
